Experts predict potential for second lottery round later this year
USCIS recently released updated statistics for the H-1B visa lottery for fiscal year 2026. The total number of registrations dropped slightly compared to FY2025, with about 446,000 eligible submissions, down from nearly 480,000 last year.
Despite the decline, demand still far exceeds the 85,000 available slots. Immigration attorneys and analysts note that based on previous trends (as seen in FY2021 and FY2024), there is a strong chance a second lottery may be held later this year if initial selections don’t lead to enough completed filings.
